Pharmacists can help you to understand your medicines (both prescription and over-the-counter medicines) and how to use them safely and correctly.
A pharmacist can give you information about your medicines, side effects and interactions, as well as helping you to manage your medicines (eg, checking dosage, managing repeats).
Some pharmacists are also able to prescribe your medication, but they must have special training in prescribing in order to do this. These types of pharmacists work in a team with other healthcare professionals but are not the primary diagnostician. These types of pharmacists are called "pharmacist prescribers" and are also able to order tests and investigations and also monitor your condition.
