Rheumatology Nurses are nurses that have specialist knowledge about arthritis. They work closely with rheumatologists and other healthcare professionals to provide the most comprehensive care possible to their patients who have inflammatory arthritis (including RA), and other autoimmune conditions.
They also provide advice in relation to one's diagnosis, assess and monitor their patients, can administer treatments, educate patients and their families/whānau, while also supporting patients to manage their condition and maintaining their quality of life.
Rheumatology nurses practice mostly in outpatient clinics in public hospitals.
